HALLOWEEN!

Dear Parents,

Halloween is right around the corner! The school will be having their parade on October 29th at 9:30 AM. The Kindergarten Team is making other arrangements for the afternoon students. Please remember to keep all violent and gory items at home (masks, fake blood, weapons, etc.). If your student does bring props with their costumes, they may only have them out for the parade, and then they will be put in back packs! We don't want anyone to be missing parts of their costume for the big night of treats and fun!

If you have any additional questions about this day, please send me an e-mail!

Happy Haunting!

Scooters and Other Information

Dear Parents,

I have had a few individuals approach me about bringing scooters to school. This is ok! The scooters must remain outside, on the kindergarten playground, until school dismisses. However, be aware that theft does occur in many places and that the school and teacher are not responsible if your child's bicycle or scooter goes missing. Please find a way to secure your child's bike or scooter if you bring them to school!

If you have volunteered to come help in the classroom this year, please come starting this upcoming week! We can use all the help we can get!

This week we learned/reviewed the letters Yy, Bb, Oo, and Pp and their sounds. To ensure that your student retains the information, please review these letters and sounds with them as homework for this month, also have them practice writing each letter several times as a capital and lower case letter.

Also, I have noticed a general trend through out both classes at school this week, and that is the lack of respect for other individuals and their property. We spent this last week at school talking about this concept and practicing it, but it still needs more reinforcement. Parents, please talk to your students about respect and self control and using them appropriately at school and at home. I will continue to work with the students also!

Please remember that homework and reading calendars are due at the end of the month. Scholastic book orders are due on the 28th of this month, the activation code is: GKYLX, and the October fliers have now been activated online.

I hope each and everyone of you are having a nice and relaxing weekend. See you on Monday!

Something That Will be Checked!

Dear Parents,

It has come to my attention that the activation code Scholastic assigned me is under the name of another teacher. Please do not submit your orders until I have called Scholastic to straighten this matter out! I would be very upset if your books arrived at another school! If you have any other questions, let me know!

Homework!

Dear Parents,

Homework will be sent home via e-mail, unless you have specified otherwise. Please remember to check your e-mail for homework on Mondays and return the final products to me on Fridays. Skill Cards and Reading Calendars will be due at the end of each month!

Thanks!

Scholastic Book Club Information

Dear Parents,

Our class will be participating in the Scholastic Book Clubs this year. This will allow you to order books for your child to read to you and also books for you to read with your child at home! The best part about this year with Scholastic is that you can place all your book orders online, which elimates the paper work and check writing for you!

Please keep in mind that most Kindergarteners are beginning learners and readers! They develop an understanding of the written word by reading books with repetitive text and sight words, but also by being read to by their most important teacher, which is YOU!

Here is the following information for Scholastic:

Web Address: scholastic.com/bookclubs

Activation Code: GKLYX

On Parent Page, click on the option: Don't have a Username and Password, then create your own username and password. When prompted to put in Activation Code, please type in the code listed above. This will ensure that your books are sent to the right classroom and teacher order account. Select the books you want, and then send and pay for your order online.

This will always be the way that you will be able to order your books. However, if you prefer the old fashioned way, you can still send your paper orders to me and a check made out to, Scholastic Books.

Our first order will be due on September 28th and the books typically follow within a week or two of the order being finalized and placed by the teacher.

Happy Hunting and Reading!
